Symbolic Films part 1

Well, we're officially into the weird stuff. My general reaction was thus:


But overall, I enjoyed it. Challenging my brain to figure out what the hell I'm seeing is somewhat amusing as well. First up, Street of Crocodiles. The first and only thing I thought of right away was the screws coming up. This obvious was relating to someone coming apart, or losing control. Screws hold together reality, and their ejection and then unusual behavior represents either a contortion of sanity or losing of control. I later realized a lot of visuals were erotic in nature as well.

For the film itself, I found it grotesque yet fascinating. The type of animation was honestly pretty cool, and I was genuinely interested in it. It looked almost steampunk, and the gritty feel and eerie music created a very interesting, abeit disturbing, visual experience.

Secondly is The Hand. It was much more understandable, and I liked it a bit more because of that. I know I should appreciate things because of the symbolism, even if ridiculously hard to decipher, but confusing me just isn't fun. But the Hand was obviously criticizing and mocking socialist governments that controlled the masses and tried to hide them from the outside. I also found that the Hand itself has a cousin:
