Krysar: Inspiring but Overlong

These dang animators need to stop ruining their beautiful films by making them too long. Street of Crocodiles could've been great if it was 5 minutes long, and Krysar (aka The Pied Piper) could've been great if it was 30 minutes long. Instead, they are both just one or two notches below great. These films are undeniably gorgeous and have more than a few good ideas between them. However, pacing is a part of the filmmaking process too.

Part of what makes Krysar in particular so exhausting is that I had no idea going in how long it would be, or indeed, that it was a Pied Piper adaptation at all. So I'm going along, enjoying the art direction and the symbolism of the rats being more organic than the people, when all of a sudden some asshole shows up and yanks out a flute and I realize, "oh, we're doing this?" and then the movie continues to happen for twenty-five minutes after that and P.S. this run-on sentence is a metaphor for what it's like to watch the movie Krysar.

them rat bbys tho so cute
